Nashira Baril, MPH Co-Director and Co-Founder of the Center for Health Equity and Social Justice at the Boston Public Health Commission (BPHC); the Center works to support BPHC’s vision to eliminate racial and ethnic health disparities and build health equity through sustainable community, policy, and systems change. Since moving to Boston in 2001, Nashira has worked on the CDC-funded REACH initiative aimed at racial equity in health. Nashira earned her BA in Women’s Studies and Legal Studies from the University of MA Amherst in 2001 and a Master of Public Health in Maternal and Child Health from Boston University in 2006. She has experience working with community coalitions and is interested in the dynamics of institutional and community relationships and power-sharing.
