Flint Eliminates COVID-19 Disparity Among African Americans
ABC-12 in Flint, Michigan ran a story about the launch of the Coronavirus Task Force on Racial Disparities in Michigan that reduced COVID-19 disparities. Michigan was one of the first states to analyze data by race and its disproportionate effects on communities of color since Black people made up 40 percent of the population that died from COVID-19, even though they make up only 14 percent of the state population. The Greater Flint Coronavirus Taskforce on Racial Inequities addressed the problem in Flint and Genesee County, and found that getting people tested was the biggest factor in eliminating the disparities.
