The most recent national data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention show that the U.S. adult obesity rate is 42.4 percent \u2013 and that racial, ethnic, gender, socio-economic and geographic disparities in obesity rates continue to persist. Additionally, obesity is a risk factor for serious COVID-19 consequences, and the pandemic could increase future levels of obesity due to increased food insecurity.
