Spotlighting REACH Grantees: Mississippi Public Health Institute

The Mississippi Public Health Institute’s initiative, Sharing Health Education and Awareness (SHEA), is a targeted, community-centered approach focused on reducing health disparities and rates of chronic disease among Black women in Jackson, Hancock, and Harrison counties. This five-year effort is part of the Gulf Coast Healthy Families, Mothers, and Babies Initiative. The goal of the program is to provide more support and access to people through the encouragement of breastfeeding, promoting a tobacco free lifestyle alongside a smoke free environment and increasing referrals and access to community-based health programs.

Congratulations to the Southern Nevada Health District, Partnership for a Healthy Lincoln/The Malone Center, and the Mississippi Public Health Institute for the impactful work you are doing! Please keep us updated as your work progresses so that we can share it with fellow REACH grantees as well as the larger NRC membership.
