Tuesday, July 21st is the Deadline to Sign On in Support of Accessible COVID-19 Communications

We would like to pass along this important message from the Asian & Pacific Islander American Health Forum:

In addressing the COVID-19 pandemic, Congress has yet to address the needs of people who need language and communications assistance. This has led to a lack of information going out to limited English proficient (LEP) communities, hospitals denying the presence of communications support staff and an exacerbated impact of the pandemic on limited English proficient populations and people with disabilities. We have heard instances of LEP persons being placed on a ventilator without interpretation services being made available and therefore not understanding what was being done to them.

The Asian & Pacific Islander American Health Forum, Disability Rights and Education Fund, Justice in Aging and National Health Law Project invite you to join them in asking Congressional leaders to support investments in breaking down barriers to COVID-19 information and communication to those who are limited English proficient or face communications-related disabilities.

We are asking other organizations to sign-on by Tuesday, July 21st.
